Hello Martin,
Thank you for your email. I understand you are interested in advertising on Google Local and would like to know how it is possible for you to see your ad if you are targeting Los Angeles, but live in Canada.
One possible way to see your locally targeted ad if you are searching from an IP address outside of your target area is to add 'Los Angeles, CA' after whatever keyword you are searching for your ad on. For example, if one of your keywords is 'moving service' I suggest searching 'moving service New York, NY.' At the top of the page directly above our normal search results you will see a link to Google Local search results. Clicking on this link will take you to Google Local search results, where you should be able to see your ad at the top of one of the multiple pages of search results, despite the fact that you are searching from outside of Los Angeles.
If you are unable to locate your ad in this manner, you may request that an AdWords Specialist locate your ad. We have tools that enable us to simulate searches from different geographic locations, and will be able to verify for you whether or not your ad is being served.
