In any case if Google will go public or not, it will not infect its results nor quality.

What will happen with Google at 2004?
  • Personolize results for personal search (e.g. Zip code, phones)
  • "Target languages and countries" ads will get wider, not only for United States regions
  • "Scaling Personalized Web Search" techniques of Glen Jeh and Jennifer Widom from Stanford University, will take even more positive swerve as it was in 2003. Read more »
  • Persistence will be a key innovation in search next year. Search engines will keep users' historical & frequency search data to maximize the relevance of future search results. It will also be associates with "Target languages and countries" searching. 
  • Integration between Froogle, News, Catalogs and books will be much more important next year.
  • GoogleBot will be much sensitive for broken links and other site defects. CheckIT Watchfire will develop a series of white papers and online seminars to address the impact that site problems have on website ROI, usability and overall effectiveness. Read more »  
  • New "tabs" will be added, e.g. books search
  • Google's AdSense program, will get even wider
  • Code problems as it was in 2003 (code jam programming contest) will be even worst. Google will have to fix them or giving Fast Database quantity advantage.
